"Rastatt schnatzt!" is a free video conferencing platform from the city of Rastatt that allows families, friends or club members to stay in touch and exchange ideas digitally.
The platform meets all security and data protection requirements and is operated on a European server. Only the data that is absolutely necessary for the technical implementation is collected. Only the respective participants have access to the content of the conference. Nevertheless, as with all online services, no sensitive data such as bank details or passwords should be communicated during the video conference.

To open a conference, visit https://videokonferenz.rastatt.de/ and enter a unique room name in the white field, for example "KulturvereinMarion" and then click on the "Let's go" button. If your browser asks you for access to your camera and microphone, please click on "Allow".
On the following page, the initial page, you can set up your camera and enter your name, which the other participants will see. Click on "Join conference" to enter the conference room.
You can invite additional participants to the conference room . To do this, click on the "Attendees" field or on the person symbol in the navigation bar at the bottom. A new window will open on the right-hand side. Click on the blue "Invite person" field. You can now copy the conference link and send it to the desired participants or share it directly. It is also possible to dial in by telephone.
You can protect your conference with the so-called lobby function. The moderator decides who gets access to the conference room and who does not. By clicking on the three dots/settings in the navigation bar in the lower middle area, you can activate the lobby function under "Security options" and set a password for your meeting. You must communicate this to your guests.
All your guests have to do now is enter the same room name and any password they may have given to "Rastatt schnatzt!". If a conference link has been sent to the guests, they simply have to enter it into the browser.
Note: Choose a room name that is as individual as possible for your video conference. For example, select "OmaOpaMustermann" instead of "OmaOpa". After installing the "Jitsi Meet" app, all you have to do is enter the full Internet address in the "Conference name" field, for example https:/videokonferenz.rastatt.de/KulturvereinMarion
Please note that you can create a conference on the official Jitsi Meet servers without entering the full Internet address https://videokonferenz.rastatt.de and that the quality may be poor due to the current high utilization.

Tip: You can also enter the Internet address https://videokonferenz.rastatt.de directly via the menu icon under Settings, so that you only have to enter the room name in the "Conference name" field.

Terms of use and legal information
The video conferencing platform Rastatt schnatzt! of the Rastatt city administration is subject to the special data protection regulations (see the following drop-down box). This offer is a voluntary service with no claim to availability. With increasing utilization of the service, there may be a loss of quality under certain circumstances.
According to § 8 to 10 DDG, the city of Rastatt as a service provider is not responsible for third-party information transmitted via the communication network.
