The municipal council is the main body of the city and the political representation of the citizens. It sets the objectives and framework conditions for the city administration and decides on all important city matters. Unless the Lord Mayor is responsible by law.
The municipal council of the city of Rastatt currently consists of 47 honorary city c ouncillors and the Lord Mayor as chairman. The 47 seats on the Rastatt municipal council are currently divided between eight parties. The municipal council meets once a month, usually in public sessions. Interested citizens are cordially invited to attend. Access to the meeting room is barrier-free.
Citizens can also have their say during the municipal council meeting. This is known as citizens' question time. Question time usually takes place at the beginning of the first public meeting of every third month. Here, questions can be asked about municipal matters or suggestions and proposals can be made.
