Social work is a practice-oriented profession and a scientific discipline at the same time. It aims to support, strengthen and accompany people. At the same time, it is its task to promote social developments and social cohesion in society. Social justice, human rights, shared responsibility and respect for diversity form the basis of social work. In doing so, it draws not only on social work theories but also on social sciences, humanities.
The training takes place within the framework of a bachelor's degree program at the Duale Hochschule Stuttgart and covers all topics of social work and social pedagogy. It deals with complex situations in the everyday professional life of social work in principle and the specific field of study. Typical challenges and conflicts in dealing with children, adolescents and adults are dealt with and appropriate social pedagogical approaches are reflected upon. Another focus is on the legal, organizational and economic framework of social work.

Educators take on pedagogical or socio-pedagogical activities in the preschool and extracurricular sector. The tasks of educators are upbringing, education and care.
In the daycare centers, they complement and support parental education. Children from one year of age until they start school are cared for in groups. The social behavior and the development of the individual children are promoted. Taking into account the age-specific development, the educators plan and carry out activities.
