Refurbishment of the object lighting in the Fruchthalle municipal gallery: City of Rastatt receives funding from the National Climate Protection Initiative
(December 12, 2023) The city of Rastatt is delighted to have received funding of around 6,500 euros as part of the Federal Environment Ministry's National Climate Protection Initiative. Funding was provided for the installation of energy-saving LED lights in the Fruchthalle municipal gallery in Rastatt.
The replacement of the lighting fixtures, which were over 30 years old, cost a total of around 18,500 euros. The building management department of the city of Rastatt applied for the grant at the end of 2021 and the funding application was approved. Implementation took place from November to December 2022.
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) can achieve energy savings of over 80 percent compared to conventional lights. The lighting sector offers particularly high savings potential for local authorities: according to the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB), lighting in municipal administration buildings and schools accounts for around 20 to 40 percent of electricity consumption. Accordingly, a great deal can be done to protect the climate in this area.
With the National Climate Protection Initiative, the Federal Environment Ministry promotes and initiates climate protection projects throughout Germany, thereby making an important contribution to achieving the national climate protection targets: Germany is to become largely climate-neutral by 2045.
