The Climate Advisory Council of the City of Rastatt advises the city administration on the implementation of climate protection goals. In addition, it can independently submit motions to the municipal council. The members of the Climate Advisory Council include the heads of the parliamentary groups of the Rastatt municipal council as well as representatives of the Climate Alliance Rastatt, the youth newspaper Ravolution, the Rastatt youth movement Fridays for Future, the KIT-Aueninstitut and the chamber group Baden-Baden/Rastatt of the Chamber of Architects Baden-Württemberg. The Climate Council is an important link between politics, administration and society.
The Climate Council meets twice a year under the leadership of the municipal climate protection manager. The following are some of the measures already initiated by the Climate Council and approved by the City Council:
- the obligation of the municipality to equip municipal buildings with photovoltaic systems,
- review urban projects submitted to the municipal council in advance for sustainability,
- To make Rastatt climate-neutral by 2035.
