On Sunday, October 15, the approximately 38,000 eligible voters in Rastatt will once again be called upon to elect a new Lord Mayor of the City of Rastatt for the next eight years. Important questions and answers about the run-off election
Do voters have to apply for their voting documents again in the run-off election?
Voters who voted at the polling station received their polling card back directly when they cast their vote. This should be taken back to the polling station for the run-off election on October 15. Citizens who did not vote on September 24 but wish to cast their vote in the run-off election should bring their previously sent polling card with them to the run-off election. People who become eligible to vote between the two election dates will receive a polling card from the city for the run-off election. You should also take your identity card or passport with you to the polling station.
Can I vote without a polling card?
What applies to postal voters?
Anyone who applied for postal voting documents for both the election on September 24 and the run-off election on October 15 will now automatically receive the documents for the run-off election. Otherwise, the postal voting documents for October 15 would have to be applied for again. From October 11, it will only be possible to apply in person: at the citizens' office at Herrenstraße 15 or at the respective local administration offices. The last opportunity to apply for postal voting documents is on October 13, until 6 pm, at the citizens' office.

Is there also support for visually impaired citizens in the run-off election?
Yes, so that blind and visually impaired citizens can cast their vote without assistance on October 15, ballot paper templates will be sent free of charge to all recipients of state aid for the blind in Rastatt. In addition, a ballot paper template will be provided at each polling station. In addition, new ballot paper templates will also be made available at each polling station for the run-off election.

Election Sunday procedure
How are the ballot papers evaluated?
Immediately after the polling stations close at 6 p.m., the respective polling districts and postal voting districts will be counted and the election results determined. The municipal electoral committee will meet publicly from 6.30 pm in the council chamber of the historic town hall. All results of the electoral districts will be checked and the overall result will be determined.
Is it possible to witness the vote count live?
When can we expect the first results of the election?
The results from the individual constituencies will be continuously displayed on the city of Rastatt's website at www.rastatt.de from 6 pm. The city administration expects the first provisional results from 7 pm. The official election results will be available at around 8.30 pm after the municipal election committee has checked all the election results.
What else is going on in the town hall?
The provisional and finally the official result will be shown on a large screen on the market square at the entrance to the historic town hall. Experience has shown that citizens and supporters of the Lord Mayor candidate will gather in the town hall and on the market square to witness the announcement of the election results live.
