Riedmuseum starts the season 2023
On Friday, March 3, the new season begins at the Ottersdorf Riedmuseum. Until Sunday, October 29, the Riedmuseum will again be open every Friday to Sunday and on public holidays from 2 to 6 pm.
To mark the start of the season, museum director Iris Baumgärtner will give a guided tour of the entire museum on Sunday, March 5, at 2 pm. One of the topics is the straightening of the Rhine by Johann Gottfried Tulla. The river engineering project was a highly innovative engineering achievement for its time and had lasting effects on people and nature on both sides of the Rhine. It changed nature into a cultural landscape and promoted the economic upswing of Baden. During the tour of the 270-year-old typical residential house, visitors learn a lot about the living conditions in the Ried at that time and about life with the river. The furnishings of the dwelling house document living conditions up to the 1960s and 1970s. Also on display is the 18th century oil mill, which is very well preserved in all its parts. It is an exciting monument from pre-industrial times.
The tour lasts about 75 minutes. It is free of charge, the entrance fee to the museum is three euros, reduced one euro.
Advance notice: On Saturday, March 18, at 2 p.m., the popular herb tour "For everything there is a herb" with Marianne Knörr-Groß will take place again. Meeting place is the Riedmuseum.
