The town twinning between Rastatt and Fano dates back to 1985/1986 and since then there has been a lively exchange between associations, but also on a private level between Rastatt and Fano residents. The reason for establishing the town twinning was the historical connection between the two towns. The architect of the Rastatt Residential Palace, Domenico Egidio Rossi, came from Fano.
The origins of Fano date back to Roman times. Even today, the imposing city walls and the ancient city gate, the Arch of Augustus, bear witness to the impressive times of the great emperor. Located on the Adriatic coast, the city has around 20 kilometers of beaches and a picturesque fishing port. To the west is the hinterland of the town of 60,000 inhabitants, which is characterized by vineyards and olive groves. More information about Fano can be found here.
